What do School Counselors do?

-School counselors support students in three core areas: social/emotional development, career awareness, and academics. This support is provided through classroom lessons, activities, and short-term counseling at school to help students overcome school-related obstacles. The school counselors’ approach is solution-focused, preventative, and developmental.

What can I come see the School Counselor for?

School counselors assist students with a variety of school-related concerns, including:

School stress
Peer conflicts
Career planning
Crisis response
Academic concerns

How Can I Have My Student See the Counselor?

-Parents/guardians may contact me directly by email or phone, or reach out to their student’s teacher. I provide short-term, in-the-moment counseling at school. If a student needs ongoing, long-term counseling, we can discuss outside resources and referrals.

Students are always welcome to stop by my office when they need support.
