Create and Innovate

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are excited to welcome students, families, and staff back to the 2020-21 school year.  Although procedures will be different due to safety precautions in place, teachers have been gearing up for a fabulous year filled with engaging learning opportunities!  This year students will apply for classroom leadership roles matched to their talents, track their learning progress using personalized digital portfolios, and participate in class meetings to increase their ability to problem solve and collaborate!  By working collectively to tackle the challenges our world, community, and families are facing, we can move forward and be better together!

While Mrs. McCulloch and I are new to our positions at SES, we are not new to education or the Sullivan School District family.  I have been in the Sullivan District for eighteen years and the assistant principal the last three years at SES.  Mrs. McCulloch served as an instructional coach at SES for the last four years..  She previously taught eight years in the classroom and has served in multiple district-level leadership roles.  We both believe in life-long learning,  Most importantly, we are both parents and have the same high expectations for every SES student as we do for our very own children.  We care deeply that every child succeeds.  If we can help you at any time, please do not hesitate to contact us.

A few things we’d like to point out:  Please take some time to review the student handbook with your child.  The information is important and helpful in understanding many of the procedures for our school.  Your child’s safety is important to us.  We have thought very carefully regarding the re-entry of students back into the building and how to maintain the safety procedures set forth by both the District and local health departments.  Finally, it is important your child knows where to go each evening.  If there is a change, please send a note to your child’s teacher.  If plans change unexpectedly, please call the office before 12:00 pm.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with your child each day.  We are looking forward to a great year of learning!
