Sullivan Elementary School

Welcome to the 2016-2017 school year!

Welcome to Sullivan Elementary-- and welcome to our School Family.  We are confident that is it going to be another great year at SES for students and parents as we have all been working hard preparing for a new school year.

In an effort to provide a safe and positive learning environment for all of our students we have intertwined Positive Behavior Support (PBS) into our character education program. PBS infuses behavior management into every part of the school atmosphere by using common language and being proactive by explicitly teaching expected behaviors.  Students are taught these expectations during boot camps held throughout the year and they are reinforced daily by teachers. Our system has been built around our school mascot, Soar Like an Eagle: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe. Teachers and staff members will catch those “teachable moments” in and out of the classroom and use them to help students learn appropriate behavior.

At SES, we will continue to assist students in developing higher order thinking skills.  Our teachers are integrating daily strategies through discussion and writing to help students articulate “the why” behind their answers. Students with critical thinking skills are able to analyze and critique ideas to make connections across disciplines, see knowledge as useful and applicable to daily life and understand content on a deeper, more lasting level.

Please continue to make attendance a priority this year. We ended the 2015-2016 school year at 92.3%! We were very excited about meeting our 90% goal. As you know, attendance is one of the biggest factors of students success, so let's continue to make every day count by ensuring your child is at school.

We know that ensuring students receive a quality education in a caring environment is a team effort, and we are grateful to have such supportive and involved parents standing behind the children we serve.  Know that we are on this educational journey together and want your child to have the best possible experience.

Please feel free to call or stop by anytime!  We are looking forward to an awesome year at SES!
